Something different tonight as SirSamurai came to the ring by himself. Just as he started to talk Iron Man (El Flaco Loco's theme) played... only it was not Iron Man, it was a Christmas version of the song. And it was not Flaco that came out, but Dante and the rest of the NAW faction. Santa Dante gave out presents to fans... including a bra (for a large man), condoms, and one or two other things. El Flaco Loco and Team Supreme charged out and chased them away. Big Ugly JD Bishop challenged Dante to a Tai Pai Deathmatch.
Once everybody has made their way to the back Samurai again started talking. Samurai explained that he was flying solo because the usual host of the show, Tommy Tsunami was wrestling instead. Just as he was about to go to the action he was interrupted by Shane Dynasty, who informed Samurai that he would be filling in for Tommy.
First Match: RABIA vs RIDICULOUS MIKE RAYNE
TEAM CHALLENGE: The theme of this show is the Team Challenge, NAW vs SPW. Four matches (with a tie breaker if necessary). The team that wins, gets total control of SPW. Rabia, by the way, was accompanied to the ring by a Jr. version, who I assume is his young son. Mike has Super Dave with him. I don't think they are related. Mike got the win to put NAW up 1-0.
Second Match: LUSTER THE LEGEND vs BLACK METAL
The battle of big men was a solid, back and forth match with pretty good heat from the crowd. Black Metal got the win, though I do not recall how.
Third Match: SCOTTY LOVE vs EL FLACO LOCO
TEAM CHALLENGE: With Flaco in this one I don't need to tell you (at least I should not have to) just how much heat it had. In fact that crowd was really into the whole show, which was a lot of fun. Flaco got in his signature spots and got the win with a very innovative pinning combination which basically ended with him sitting on a rolled up Love. 1-1.
The next match was the special grudge match as former head official Even Steve Curie got to pick a partner to take on current SPW host Tommy Tsunami and a partner of Tommy's choosing. Steve picked the Beautiful People and Tommy responded with SPW champion JD Bishop.
Fourth Match: STEVE CURIE, HANDSOME JACK, CLINT DOUGLAS (w/Shane Dynasty) vs TOMMY TSUNAMI, THE BIG UGLY JD BISHOP (w/ Chase)
I thought the last one had heat, but this one was off the charts. Both Steve and Tommy looked good (both were making their SPW in ring debut) and of course Jack, Clint, and Ugly are at the top of their game. Everybody saw some action, including Chase, who was dragged into the ring by the Beautiful People. She was able to drop both men (to a large pop) and escape from the ring. Moments later Handsome Jack announced that the Beautiful People had tickets to a Lionel Richie concert and thus Steve was on his own. As they left Jack picked up Chase and carried her away. Big Ugly followed, leaving the former head official and the host in the ring. Tommy and Steve went back and forth until Steve was able to score the pin with his feet on the ropes. Tommy had the last laugh, though, hitting him with the Tsunami Driver after the match.
Fifth Match: THE SACRAMENTO DRAGON vs SUPER DAVE
TEAM CHALLENGE: Though Dragon came out to Chris Benoit's theme, it was Dragon's wrestling style that made me think of Benoit as he hit all of Benoit's signature spots and even scored the win following the Diving Headbutt. 2-1 SPW.
Sixth Match: THE TREND SETTER ADAM THORNSTOWE vs DANTE
TEAM CHALLENGE/EXTREME TITLE MATCH: This was a falls count anywhere match and it lived up to it as these two fought all over the place, through the crowd and even into the locker room. They worked well against each other and I would love to see a rematch at some point. In the end Dante scored the win on the stage and thus we have a tie the decision will be reached in the main event.
Seventh Match: GAUNTLET MATCH
The rules were that Hunk Golden must face Kryptonite's crew. If Krypto's crew won then Krypto got five minutes in the ring with The Golden One's valet, Madison. Hunk was able to fight his way through "Mexican Dude" (that is how Krypto introduced him), Wicked, and Jesus Cruz, but fell short after being knocked out by Krypto (who was sporting a cast on his arm... I have heard he broke it in the Bay Area. The question is will he "Bob Orton" the injury), who pinned him. Madison then entered the ring for her match. It was apparent that she did not want to fight him, as she dropped to her knees to beg for mercy. That gave him an idea and he gave her away out of the match. Instead she... man, how else do you say this... bit him on the teeny weeny until Krypto tapped out and thus Madison was the winner. Ouch. Anybody know the official name of that finisher? Anybody? Let me know.
Main Event: SPW vs NAW
This was an eight man elimination match. Representing SPW were Sacramento Dragon, Adam Thornstowe, El Flaco Loco, and Rabia. For NWA it was Dante, Scotty Love, Mike Rayne, and Super Dave. I will be honest, I don't remember the order of elimination's but it came down to Sac Dragon vs Dante, and two of the three other members of NAW. Dragon worked his way through them, pinning Dante last and thus SPW got the win and regained control of the company. The locker room emptied in celebration.
