NAW/SPW 11/9 Colonial Theater, Sacremento: SD2k Invades!!
As Written by Sir Samurai
Full NAW/SPW results November 9, 2002
At the Historic Colonial Theater
Sacramento, California
The first show under the new NAW Sacramento management began with Tommy
Tsunami, Commissioner White, and Sir Samurai entering the ring and all tripping
upon doing so. After blaming each other for a bit they got down to the business
at hand, hyping the show, which was to feature the two semi-final matches
in the Extreme Title Tournament and an SPW Title match. They welcomed El
Flaco Loco to the ring as Flaco had a statement about being forced to face
the Big Ugly JD Bishop because Dante ordered them to fight. Flaco entered
the ring, but before he could speak he was attacked by the entire NAW faction,
who hit him with a variety of finishers. Finally SPW wrestlers chased off
the NAW faction and Flaco was taken to the hospital. Now onto the results
(which, like usual will be pretty brief as I can't take very good notes
while standing on stage)
First Match: THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE (w/ Shane Dynasty and Alice Ann) vs BLACK
METAL and GHETTO MATT
SPW TAG TITLE MATCH: As always the Beautiful People were dressed to the
nines and this time they were escorted to the ring by not just Shane Dynasty,
but Alice Ann as well. Metal (who is much taller then Clint Douglas and Handsome
Jack) and Matt got some good offense and had some great crowd heat in this
one. Highlight was when Jack stood on Clint's back for a test of strength
with Metal. The Champions were able to get the win and thus retain the their
titles when Clint pinned Ghetto Matt.
Second Match: TEAM NAW (Scotty Love, Mike Rayne, Super Dave) vs LUCHA LIBRE
MAFIA (Sacramento Dragon, Rabia, Chupacabra)
This grudge match saw some nice spots from everybody and some great power
moves from Rabia and Chupa. In the end Sacramento Dragon got the pin on Mike
Rayne. Following the match the NAW group destroyed the Lucha Libre Mafia and
injured Chupacabra in the process.
Third Match: DANTE vs JOHNNY ONYX
EXTREME TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMI FINAL MATCH: I will be honest with you, this
match pissed me off. On one side you had Dante, one of the main heels in the
NAW group and on the other you had Johnny Onyx, who has recently been getting
some great air time on television and thus a natural face. Plus the fact
that both men are very talented workers. And what reaction do they get? The
crowd sitting on their hands. They deserved better. In the end Dante got the
win with a bit of help.
Fourth Match: SHANE DYNASTY (w/ Alice Ann) vs PRESTON SCOT
Scot was a new comer to the SPW ring and as such the fans did not know
how to react to him. Dynasty, with use of the mic, made it very clear prior
to the match that he was not on the fan's side. Dynasty got the win here,
but I will be honest, I do not remember how. Scot had a good look though
and I would like to see him back.
Fifth Match: THE SACRAMENTO DRAGON vs THE BIG UGLY JD BISHOP (w/ Chase)
EXTREME TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMI FINAL MATCH: Because El Flaco Loco and Chupacabra
were both injured earlier in the show, Dante decided that their scheduled
opponents for the night would face each other and that the winner would advance
to the finals of the tournament. This match was, by the way, the lovely Chase's
official debut as Bishop's valet. Two shows ago she won the number one fan
contest and last month got into an altercation with Bulldog Brian Raymond.
This match made me feel the same as the Dante/Onyx match. Both men had a great
offense and the match was very solid, but the crowd was just not popping.
Steve the ref gave Sacramento Dragon with the win with a bit of a fast count.
Earlier in the match Bishop should have gotten the win, but Steve's neck started
hurting during the three count and he was not able to finish.
Sixth Match: HUNK GOLDEN and WICKED (w/ Madison) vs KRYPTONITE and JESUS
CRUZ
Early in the match it was apparent that Hunk was having problems with his
knee and both Krypto and Cruz took advantage of that fact and continued to
work said knee. It got so bad that Madison ended up having to help him to
the back. While they were gone Krypto and Cruz took advantage of Wicked and
eventually Cruz pinned him. Following the match Madison returned and she and
Wicked ended up arguing in the ring. Wicked was upset that "his" manager walked
out on him during his match. Wicked ended up giving her two vicious slaps
to the face and then beating her down. Krypto and Cruz ended up setting Madison
up on a ringside table and Wicked came off the top turnbuckle and splashed
her through it. While the question of whether Wicked is the new member of
Team Homo or not, their is no doubt that Madison was hurt.
Main Event: BULLDOG BRIAN RAYMOND vs SUPER DESTROYER 2002 (w/ Buddy Cetello
Esq)
Destroyer was the surprise opponent for Bulldog and the dude is huge. I
saw him wrestle in 2000 and if anything he is even bigger now. Plus he can
wrestle. This was a very solid match with the bigger Destroyer nailing all
sorts of power moves... but Bulldog held his own and certainly gave as much
as he took. But in the end NAW got involved, as did Steve the ref, and thus
Bulldog was able to retain his belt.
